  • Amen! I'm tired of the negativity in life, though I do get sucked into it sometimes. We are all in this together so we should be open to teach and to lean from each other. Whenever I'm sad, the little kids I babysit remind me to smile and laugh at the simplest things. I've learned more from some people I met on the side of the road in Ghana than I have from some college professors and I've been able to help or give advice to some of the most random people, often unknowingly until I hear about it later.

    Thanks for the message!
  • Thank you for the comment Jackie!

I just like when people can turn their thoughts to something positive and learn to just help out. We all have more to offer than we think and we just have to be open about what we know and most importantly, what we don't.

    Thanks for stopping by!

atta boy! Call it like it is. quit pushing the finger and start pulling the thumb.
(by the way, i think you had room for a couple more Jaeger-bombs..)
  • Nice man. It seems like there is quite a bit of this going around lately. There's no doubt that there is this sense of entitlement that is starting to come up and for those who've bused their asses to get where they are it's natural that it would piss them off.

I think you make a great point about the team. One of the things I realized was that a key to being successful even as an entrepreneur is going and learning from one. My boss is not a web 2.0 expert or social media junky, but he's a guy who has built a company and is successful. I've learned a ton from him about people, life, etc because I get to see things on a daily basis and I'm getting work on projects I wouldn't have if I were in my own "gen y" bubble. Technically, I'm not even Gen Y, since I'm over 30. Anyways, definitely some thought provoking ideas here.

Whew! That is what its all about.
  • Even if your are a selfish "gen y", working with "gen x" is better, because you have more chances of learning from them than from other "entitled" kids like yourself.

I always enjoy a good rant, keep 'em coming.
  • I wrote about this here last month --> http://www.lifewithoutpants.com/words-of-wisdom/big-world/

The competitive, entitled nature of our generation is off...I talk to people who are even a little bit older than you and I and there attitude is completely different. It's about collaboration and helping one another - they don't feel threatened by the sharing of information because it helps EVERYONE become better at their craft. If you're really that worried that by sharing some information and helping someone else, it's going to come back to hurt you - then you have a very "off" concept of the sheer size of the world we live in. There's plenty of room for every one of us to be successful - there's plenty of room for us all to get along and not feel like we have to hoard information. I got where I am today because other people were willing to help me - so why the heck would I not be willing to help others? It's a cycle - and those who try to break away from that and go solo are missing the bus.

Good stuff - a little bitter (3am will do that to you) - but I see where you're coming from.
  • Thanks Matt,

Sorry for the bitterness but it was more fueled by the post that I have read (mixed with interactions) and the fact that it is 3 a.m. :)

Love ya man and keep it real!
