When you find yourself on the side of the majority it is time to pause and reflect.
Seriously, it seems like all of the companies are on Twitter, talking on Facebook and connecting on LinkedIn. Everyone is doing it. If you are not doing it then you are way behind. Well, if you are not on any of these networks then you may be screwed but seriously, if you only use these networks then realize you look like everyone else.

People are so scared. Such wimps. OMG why would I call? Hmmm, maybe because no one else is calling? Why is everyone so scared to do something a little more forward? If you really have a reason to reach out then why not pick up the phone (it is easy to find people’s numbers), and stand out from the crowd.
In my opinion, it is so much easier to sell myself over the phone than through an email, tweet or any other typing method for that matter. The best way is to not sell yourself yet find a common ground to ask the person on the other end of the phone about. If it is hard for you to do pick up the phone then start calling your friends, your family, or hell, your mom for that matter and just talk. It will help you more than you can think in the end. Please don’t waste people’s time but if you really want to reach out then just do it… why not?
Seriously, when the entire world becomes connected, how will you stand out? I would send a hand written letter with a phone call, walk into their office and deliver cookies, or something else crazy (and unique) unless you are to scared and then I ask… what are you scared of? We all put our pants on one leg at a time. Everyone. Find that damn phone number, address or something that will make you look a little different. The best is to meet in person so even if you are using social networks or any other means of communication, try to reason to have a cup of Joe.
